INSTEP dan Yayasan Pendidikan MAIDAM Terus Sokong Agenda TVET Nasional melalui Program Latihan Teknikal

Kuala Nerus, Malaysia, 27 Mei 2024 – INSTEP dengan kerjasama Yayasan Pendidikan MAIDAM (YPM), Terengganu, telah melaksanakan Program Latihan Teknikal Zakat Wakalah melibatkan anak-anak asnaf fakir dan miskin di negeri Terengganu.

Zakat Wakalah merupakan dasar pengembalian wang zakat oleh MAIDAM kepada entiti yang membayar zakat kepada Pusat Pungutan Zakat untuk diagihkan sendiri kepada asnaf yang layak. Dana As-Syakirin sebagai pemegang amanah yang menguruskan zakat PETRONAS mengambil peluang ini untuk menaja 27 asnaf terpilih untuk melanjutkan pelajaran mereka dalam bidang TVET minyak dan gas melalui program latihan teknikal selama 3 bulan di INSTEP.

Selama 12 minggu latihan di INSTEP, pelajar dilatih dalam pelbagai kemahiran asas berkenaan minyak dan gas iaitu pembaikan elektrikal dan mekanikal. Selain itu modul sampingan seperti Bahasa Inggeris, Pendidikan Islam dan kelestarian turut disertakan. Pelajar juga dilengkapkan dengan program pensijilan seperti AESP, First Aider, OGSP dan T-BOSIET.

Ini membolehkan para pelajar yang akan menamatkan program latihan ini mempunyai kebolehpasaran yang tinggi untuk berkerja dengan syarikat penyedia perkhidmatan minyak dan gas.

Sesi Engage and Connect dilaksanakan pada hari ini, merupakan satu platform untuk para pelajar tajaan Zakat Wakalah mendapat pendedahan mengenai bidang perkerjaan di dalam industri tenaga. Turut hadir pada sesi ini adalah En. Mohd Firdaus bin Mamat, YPM dan wakil syarikat penyedia perkhidmatan minyak dan gas beroperasi di Terengganu iaitu ANZ Engineering Sdn Bhd, EPIC OG Sdn Bhd, Elektro Serve (M) Sdn Bhd dan UBF Maintenance Sdn Bhd.

Menurut Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif INSTEP, Mohamad bin Nasir, “Program ini selari dengan agenda pembangunan modal insan dalam usaha membentuk masyarakat yang berkualiti melalui pendidikan dan peningkatan daya kemahiran teknikal rakyat Terenganu.”

Ten Technicians Complete 6 Month Training Program in Collaboration Between INSTEP and Hibiscus Petroleum to Advance Local Energy Industry

This training programme, a product of the strategic partnership between INSTEP and Hibiscus Petroleum Berhad, was designed to equip technicians with advanced skills and knowledge essential for the evolving energy sector, comprising of four intensive modules including Production, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Electrical. This is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities and expertise of the local energy industry workforce.

On 25 April this year, a Meet & Greet Aidilfitri was held to celebrate and commemorate the efforts from the External Learning Partners (ELP) consisting of individuals including PETRONAS Retirees, Learning Institutions and Government Agencies.

Held at Dewan Sri Rhu, INSTEP, it was a time to gather and strengthen the bond between the ELP fraternity and INSTEP’s management, while enjoying the ‘raya’ culinary delights.

The essence of Aidilfitri lies in the spirit of unity, hence the event acted as platform for all educators consisting of ELPs to exchange ideas and build networking.

“With the theme of together for the future for Road to PETRONAS 50, this celebration brings significant value to the energy workforce frontliner, who play the part in upskilling the technical workforce through education and technical training.

INSTEP Initiates Its First Inaugural Collaboration for The TEP Programme

On 2 March 2024, INSTEP joyously greeted 154 new onboardees into the Technical Energy Enrichment Programme (TEP) under sponsorship by Downstream and Gas Business Operating Units (OPUs).

The 10-month pre-employment sponsorship initiative is designed to cultivate crucial technical skills and instil a generative culture to propel individuals’ careers within the energy sector.

In a notable development for this March cohort, PETRONAS initiates its inaugural collaboration with an external partner, Shell, merging the TEP with Shell’s sponsorship programme. PETRONAS supports 130 learners, while Shell backs 24 learners.

Furthermore, this intake comprises learners in Production, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Electrical trade, predominantly from the East Coast Region, Sabah, and Sarawak.

During the registration day, learners from all corners of Malaysia registered for the programme, accompanied by their families bidding them farewell.

The programme’s culmination is set for 2 January 2025. In the meantime, let’s extend a hearty welcome to all the newcomers!

INSTEP Continues to Contribute to Local Communities through Zakat Wakalah Technical Programme

Through a collaboration with the Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu (MAIDAM), INSTEP has successfully enrolled 27 local Terengganu students from the less fortunate, Asnaf group into the Zakat Wakalah Technical Programme who were celebrated in ceremony dated 18 February 2024. Funded by the Assyakirin Fund, the programme aims to provide comprehensive training in energy industry maintenance.

The students comprising of 22 males and 5 females come from diverse educational backgrounds including diplomas, technical and vocational colleges, Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) and self-employment. This diversity reflects the programme’s inclusivity and accessibility to individuals from various walks of life 

Over the course of 12 weeks, the students will undergo training modules such as Sustainability Awareness, Behavioural Safety, Working at Height, Basic Fire Fighting (BFF) Training, Static Equipment, Electrical Wiring, Islamic Modules, English Communication, and more. This comprehensive curriculum ensures the participants receive a well-rounded education in energy industry maintenance.  

Holding up to the “Experiencing is Enriching” tagline, the programme also includes experiential learning activities ranges from Mentor-Mentee sessions, team building exercises, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, career exposure talks, industrial site visits and mock interviews. These activities aim to provide students with real-world experiences and prepare them for future careers in the energy industry.

The event was not only to commemorate the completion of 10 months journey of TEP, but also to celebrate the graduates’ initial step prior to entering energy industry. 

“Coming from various trades such as Electrical, Lab, Mechanical and Process, our talented graduates will soon be the frontliners of PETRONAS business operations. INSTEP as the learning solutions partner, has equipped these future leaders with the relevant skills demanded by the dynamic energy industry,” En. Idris Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of INSTEP, mentioned in his speech.

Technical Energy Enrichment Programme (TEP) is a PETRONAS pre-employment sponsorship programme that is specifically designed to develop essential technical competencies with generative culture mindset to accelerate your career in the global energy industry.

For 2024 intake, PETRONAS has rolled out a 10 months pre-employment sponsorship programmes for downstream industry.

Upon completion of this programme, you will be a certified job-ready technician with skills of tomorrow to support the global energy industry.
