INSTEP as PETRONAS’ technical training arm extends its roles in preparing tomorrow’s workforce to equip sponsored university undergraduates who are embarking their industrial internship journeys, with essential skills and knowledge necessary to excel in professional environments.
The two initiatives under this agenda are Summer Internship Induction Programme (SIIP) in collaboration with Gas Business Capability and GHRM HCI and PETRONAS Internship Induction Programme (PIIP) for internship students as a part of collaboration with UTP.
The PIIP first session started on 12 May to 16 May 2024, with 28 participants from UTP.
As for the SIIP, it commenced its first pilot session involving 11 scholarship students from overseas on 4 June to 6 June 2024.
With the main aim to expose fundamental knowledge of oil and gas industry to the participants, the programme is structured with syllabus of Overview of Petroleum Industry, HSE practices and Sustainability Explained.
The blended learning methodology are tailored to ensure all participants are equipped with a holistic understanding, through theoretical classes and visit to Upstream Downstream Training Plant (UDTP) for an experiential learning experience.
According to Chief Executive Officer of INSTEP, Encik Mohamad bin Nasir, “INSTEP is prepared to support technical talent development through early integration of industrial knowledge from day one, to ensure progressive growth of tomorrow’s workforce.”
