INSTEP Drives Community Clean-Up Campaign for Environment Day 2024

INSTEP, along with eleven other agencies, collaboratively participated in National Environment Day 2024 for a community clean-up campaign organised by the Department of Environment (DoE) Terengganu on 21 October 2024.

Taking it up a notch in promoting the state’s assets, the clean-up was held at the Terengganu State Museum, and nearby area. While the primary goal was to take proactive measures in
addressing waste management issues and contributing to a clean, healthy environment, the
activity also aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 15: Life on Land.

The community-driven event was a remarkable success, with the majority of participants from educational institutions actively involved in removing garbage, plastic, and other waste from the area.

“With the tagline ‘Experiencing is Enriching,’ INSTEP’s role is not only to equip the energy workforce to excel in the evolving energy landscape, but also to develop human capital and give back to society,” commented En. Mohamad bin Nasir, Chief Executive Officer of INSTEP.

INSTEP team also set up an information booth providing the public with an opportunity to learn more about INSTEP, its offering and its roles in developing technical talents for the energy industry.

“Contributing to the community is one of the key ways we fulfill this commitment. This collaboration and dedication demonstrated that even small actions can have a significant impact, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future for everyone,” he added.

Since its inception in October 1989, National Environment Day or Hari Alam Sekitar Negara (HASN) has been an annual commemoration by Malaysia Federal Government as its continuous support to educate environment knowledge and instil awareness of environmental conservation and reservation among local community.
