For those who might not know, Technical Energy Enrichment Programme (TEP) is a PETRONAS pre-employment sponsorship programme that is specifically designed to develop essential technical competencies with generative culture mindset to accelerate your career in the global energy industry.

Through TEP, trainees will be going through a 10-months’ worth of professionally curated training for the downstream sector. Upon completion of this programme, they will be a certified job-ready technician with skills of tomorrow to support the global energy industry.

Kimanis Petroleum Training Centre (KTC) Secures Second Place Aero Dance Competition in KSITS 2024

The first Kejohanan Sukan Institut TVET Sabah (KSITS) was held from 6 to 10 May 2024. With the aim to promote sportsmanship, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among student and instructor, the event was joined by various Technical and Vocational Education institutes including Kolej Vocational Sabah, Institut Latihan dan Perdagangan (ILTP), Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP), Borneo TVET College, Institut Kemahiran MARA (IKM), Montfort Youth Training Centre (MYTC) and Kimanis Petroleum Training Centre (KTC). Also present during the officiation of the event was Datuk Armizan Mohd. Ali, Member of Parliament P.175 Papar and Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup. 

The competition featured a variety of sports, including netball, football, speak takraw, volleyball, badminton, and aero dance, with both male and female athletes participating. Throughout the event, each institute competed in various categories, showcasing their skills and dedication. KTC succeeded in achieving second place in the aero dance competition. Winners brought back medals, trophies, certificate, and cash rewards.

In addition to encouraging an active lifestyle, this sport event acted as a platform for all participants to enhance teamwork and cooperation, while also served as a scouting ground for sports talent in Sabah. 

KTC had participated in 5 sport categories, and successfully secured the second place in the aero dance female category and was awarded with RM500 cash rewards, medals, trophies and certificate. 

In summary, this event was more than just a sports competition; it was a celebration of youth, talent, and the spirit of togetherness, playing crucial roles in promoting sports and physical fitness among TVET student in Sabah while providing a platform for collaboration opportunities among TVET Institute.

INSTEP Empowers University Undergraduates with Industrial Experiential Learning

INSTEP as PETRONAS’ technical training arm extends its roles in preparing tomorrow’s workforce to equip sponsored university undergraduates who are embarking their industrial internship journeys, with essential skills and knowledge necessary to excel in professional environments. 

The two initiatives under this agenda are Summer Internship Induction Programme (SIIP) in collaboration with Gas Business Capability and GHRM HCI and PETRONAS Internship Induction Programme (PIIP) for internship students as a part of collaboration with UTP. 

The PIIP first session started on 12 May to 16 May 2024, with 28 participants from UTP.

As for the SIIP, it commenced its first pilot session involving 11 scholarship students from overseas on 4 June to 6 June 2024.

With the main aim to expose fundamental knowledge of oil and gas industry to the participants, the programme is structured with syllabus of Overview of Petroleum Industry, HSE practices and Sustainability Explained. 

The blended learning methodology are tailored to ensure all participants are equipped with a holistic understanding, through theoretical classes and visit to Upstream Downstream Training Plant (UDTP) for an experiential learning experience. 

According to Chief Executive Officer of INSTEP, Encik Mohamad bin Nasir, “INSTEP is prepared to support technical talent development through early integration of industrial knowledge from day one, to ensure progressive growth of tomorrow’s workforce.”

INSTEP Sokong Agenda Dasar TVET Negara melalui Program Latihan Teknikal Wakalah

Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, 24 Jun 2024 – Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP) berjaya melatih 27 orang asnaf dari kategori fakir dan miskin terpilih di negeri Terengganu melalui program Latihan Teknikal Zakat Wakalah 2024. Program pra-pekerjaan yang dilaksanakan dengan kerjasama Yayasan Pendidikan MAIDAM (YPM) itu memberi pendedahan asas kepada pelatih kemahiran TVET di dalam sektor minyak dan gas. 

Setiap pelatih menerima sijil tamat latihan yang disampaikan oleh Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Yayasan Pendidikan MAIDAM, Norhana Binti Yaakub di dalam satu majlis yang diadakan di INSTEP hari ini. Turut hadir, Pengurus Besar INSTEP, Azhar bin Ahmad.

MAIDAM melalui inisiatif Zakat Wakalah, melantik entiti yang membayar zakat kepada Pusat Pungutan Zakat berkenaan untuk mengagihkan sendiri sebahagian kutipan zakat kepada asnaf yang layak. Sebahagian zakat yang dibayar oleh kakitangan PETRONAS  kepada MAIDAM itu dikembalikan kepada Dana As-Syakirin sebagai pemegang amanah yang menguruskan zakat kakitangan PETRONAS. 

Dana As-Syakirin mengagihkan sejumlah dana yang diterima tersebut untuk melatih asnaf di dalam bidang TVET sebagai salah satu usaha meningkatkan taraf hidup mereka melalui penglibatan di dalam sektor minyak dan gas. Manakala INSTEP selaku pusat latihan teknikal minyak dan gas, dilantik sebagai ejen pelaksana yang bertanggungjawab menjalankan pembelajaran  

Melalui program sepenuh masa yang dijalankan selama 4 bulan ini, pelatih didedahkan dengan pelbagai kemahiran asas di dalam bidang elektrikal dan mekanikal. Selain itu pelajar juga dibekalkan dengan program-program pensijilan tambahan seperti Ujian Tanpa Musnah (NDT), Keselamatan Bekerja di Tempat Terkurung (AESP), Pengetahuan Bantuan Cemas, Latihan Keselamatan dan Kesihatan (OGSP), dan Induksi Asas Keselamatan Luar Pesisir dan Latihan Kecemasan (BOSIET). Sijil-sijil tersebut merupakan keperluan penting yang melayakkan setiap individu untuk bekerja di dalam industri minyak dan gas. 

Di dalam usaha meningkatkan nilai tambah program, INSTEP juga turut memperkenalkan modul sampingan seperti subjek Bahasa Inggeris, Pendidikan Islam dan Kesedaran Kemampanan. Selain daripada itu, aspek pembinaan keterampilan diri dan personaliti yang professional juga turut disertakan di dalam program tersebut. Pelatih-pelatih juga turut terlibat di dalam pelbagai aktiviti yang dijalankan di dalam kampus, seperti sukan, riadah serta aktiviti pengukuhan pasukan (team building).

Sepanjang tempoh program, selain kemudahan penginapan dan makanan, setiap pelatih turut menerima elaun bulanan sebanyak RM500.  

“Kami berharap, program ini mampu menarik minat setiap pelatih untuk terlibat di dalam industri ini, seterusnya meningkatkan kemahiran mereka untuk diterima bekerja dengan syarikat penyedia perkhidmatan minyak dan gas”, tambah Mohamad.

INSTEP Meriahkan Pertandingan Beca Berhias Buat Julung Kali

INSTEP telah menyertai pertandingan kenderaan berhias buat julung kalinya bersempena Sambutan Ulang Tahun Ke-62 Hari Keputeraan KDYMM Sultan Terengganu pada 7 Jun 2024.

Sultan Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin dan Sultanah Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah turut mencemar duli menghadiri pada acara tahunan itu yang berlangsung di Dataran Jambatan Angkat, Kuala Terengganu.

Selain penyertaan beca berhias oleh INSTEP, sebanyak 15 beca dari anak syarikat berkaitan kerajaan (GLC) negeri dan lapan kenderaan berhias dari kesemua pejabat daerah di Terengganu turut menyertai perarakan ini.

Majlis juga turut dihadiri oleh Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar beserta ribuan penonton yang hadir untuk menyaksikan majlis perarakan dan pertandingan kenderaan berhias berkenaan.

INSTEP Continues to Accelerate Human Capital Development

On 6 June 2024, 73 learners from Technical Energy Enrichment Program (TEP) Plus Programme had received their completion certificate after completing their 18 months training programme in Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP). 

TEP is a 18-month pre-employment sponsorship programme, sponsored by PETRONAS Carigali Sarawak Asset, Sabah Asset (SBA) and Sarawak Asset (SKA). It is specially designed to develop essential technical competencies to upskill and
produce certified job-ready technician with skills of tomorrow to support the global energy industry.

This batch is the first batch of sponsored learners from upstream industries for 18-month training programme, for technical trades such as electrical, instrument, production and mechanical.

The INSTEP signature training programme is tailored to cater upskilling and upgrading of technical competencies through theoretical and practical learning. The blended learning solutions also include On-Job-Training in Upstream Downstream Training Plant (UDTP), INSTEP.

Also present during the event were M Nazlee B Rasol, Senior General Manager, PMA, and M Johan Ariff B M Supian, Senior General Manager, SBA, alongside INSTEP management team.

Syarafuddin Salleh, 28 one of SKA sponsored graduates mentioned his gratefulness to be selected to join TEP in INSTEP, that had taught him importance of having proficient skills and competency prior entering working environment, where every live is valuable.

Whilst another graduates, Darian Jan Ting anak Frankie, 29 mentioned of a ‘life-changing opportunity at INSTEP’, since TEP did not only provide him with invaluable skills but also opened doors to a network of industry seniors who became his mentors and inspiration.

INSTEP dan Yayasan Pendidikan MAIDAM Terus Sokong Agenda TVET Nasional melalui Program Latihan Teknikal

Kuala Nerus, Malaysia, 27 Mei 2024 – INSTEP dengan kerjasama Yayasan Pendidikan MAIDAM (YPM), Terengganu, telah melaksanakan Program Latihan Teknikal Zakat Wakalah melibatkan anak-anak asnaf fakir dan miskin di negeri Terengganu.

Zakat Wakalah merupakan dasar pengembalian wang zakat oleh MAIDAM kepada entiti yang membayar zakat kepada Pusat Pungutan Zakat untuk diagihkan sendiri kepada asnaf yang layak. Dana As-Syakirin sebagai pemegang amanah yang menguruskan zakat PETRONAS mengambil peluang ini untuk menaja 27 asnaf terpilih untuk melanjutkan pelajaran mereka dalam bidang TVET minyak dan gas melalui program latihan teknikal selama 3 bulan di INSTEP.

Selama 12 minggu latihan di INSTEP, pelajar dilatih dalam pelbagai kemahiran asas berkenaan minyak dan gas iaitu pembaikan elektrikal dan mekanikal. Selain itu modul sampingan seperti Bahasa Inggeris, Pendidikan Islam dan kelestarian turut disertakan. Pelajar juga dilengkapkan dengan program pensijilan seperti AESP, First Aider, OGSP dan T-BOSIET.

Ini membolehkan para pelajar yang akan menamatkan program latihan ini mempunyai kebolehpasaran yang tinggi untuk berkerja dengan syarikat penyedia perkhidmatan minyak dan gas.

Sesi Engage and Connect dilaksanakan pada hari ini, merupakan satu platform untuk para pelajar tajaan Zakat Wakalah mendapat pendedahan mengenai bidang perkerjaan di dalam industri tenaga. Turut hadir pada sesi ini adalah En. Mohd Firdaus bin Mamat, YPM dan wakil syarikat penyedia perkhidmatan minyak dan gas beroperasi di Terengganu iaitu ANZ Engineering Sdn Bhd, EPIC OG Sdn Bhd, Elektro Serve (M) Sdn Bhd dan UBF Maintenance Sdn Bhd.

Menurut Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif INSTEP, Mohamad bin Nasir, “Program ini selari dengan agenda pembangunan modal insan dalam usaha membentuk masyarakat yang berkualiti melalui pendidikan dan peningkatan daya kemahiran teknikal rakyat Terenganu.”

Dana As-Syakirin sebagai pemegang amanah yang menguruskan zakat PETRONAS mengambil peluang ini untuk menaja 27 asnaf terpilih untuk melanjutkan pelajaran mereka dalam bidang TVET minyak dan gas melalui program latihan teknikal selama 3 bulan di INSTEP.

Selama 12 minggu latihan di INSTEP, pelajar dilatih dalam pelbagai kemahiran asas berkenaan minyak dan gas iaitu pembaikan elektrikal dan mekanikal. Selain itu modul sampingan seperti Bahasa Inggeris, Pendidikan Islam dan kelestarian turut disertakan. Pelajar juga dilengkapkan dengan program pensijilan seperti AESP, First Aider, OGSP dan T-BOSIET.

Ini membolehkan para pelajar yang akan menamatkan program latihan ini mempunyai kebolehpasaran yang tinggi untuk berkerja dengan syarikat penyedia perkhidmatan minyak dan gas.

Sesi Engage and Connect dilaksanakan pada hari ini, merupakan satu platform untuk para pelajar tajaan Zakat Wakalah mendapat pendedahan mengenai bidang perkerjaan di dalam industri tenaga. Turut hadir pada sesi ini adalah En. Mohd Firdaus bin Mamat, YPM dan wakil syarikat penyedia perkhidmatan minyak dan gas beroperasi di Terengganu iaitu ANZ Engineering Sdn Bhd, EPIC OG Sdn Bhd, Elektro Serve (M) Sdn Bhd dan UBF Maintenance Sdn Bhd.

Menurut Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif INSTEP, Mohamad bin Nasir, “Program ini selari dengan agenda pembangunan modal insan dalam usaha membentuk masyarakat yang berkualiti melalui pendidikan dan peningkatan daya kemahiran teknikal rakyat Terenganu.”

MTM is a powerful learning and development platform that combines data from enterprise systems with feedback collected through evaluations. The achievements gained are evaluated using the metrics needed by MTM which are:
• Net Promoter Score
• Scrap Learning
• Estimated Performance Improvement

INSTEP’s success can be attributed to its steadfast dedication to customer satisfaction, as evidenced by its impressive performance metrics. With a commendable 68% Net Promoter Score (NPS), coupled with a remarkable 14% improvement in Scrap Learning and a significant 40% increase in Estimated Performance Improvement (EPI), INSTEP has clearly demonstrated its ability to not only meet but exceed beyond expectations

INSTEP Initiates Its First Inaugural Collaboration for The TEP Programme

On 2 March 2024, INSTEP joyously greeted 154 new onboardees into the Technical Energy Enrichment Programme (TEP) under sponsorship by Downstream and Gas Business Operating Units (OPUs).

The 10-month pre-employment sponsorship initiative is designed to cultivate crucial technical skills and instil a generative culture to propel individuals’ careers within the energy sector.

In a notable development for this March cohort, PETRONAS initiates its inaugural collaboration with an external partner, Shell, merging the TEP with Shell’s sponsorship programme. PETRONAS supports 130 learners, while Shell backs 24 learners.

Furthermore, this intake comprises learners in Production, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Electrical trade, predominantly from the East Coast Region, Sabah, and Sarawak.

During the registration day, learners from all corners of Malaysia registered for the programme, accompanied by their families bidding them farewell.

The programme’s culmination is set for 2 January 2025. In the meantime, let’s extend a hearty welcome to all the newcomers!
