Following an advertisement announcement made on 4 Dec, Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP) has withdrawn the status of being a Private Higher Educational Institution (PHEI) – hereby referred to as “close down”, being the phrase required by Ministry of Education (MoE) with effect from 28 July 2020. Being a PHEI requires INSTEP to offer Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA) accredited programmes, such as course of study awarding Diploma and Degree.
In view that our focus and differentiator are more towards offering short courses and customised learning solutions, PETRONAS Technical Training Sdn Bhd (PTTSB) Board has approved the proposal to withdraw INSTEP from being a PHEI. In consultation with MoE, the advertisement announcement published on 4 Dec, which has to follow a standard format required by MoE, is one of the required steps undertaken to comply the Standard Operating Procedure of MoE in PHEI closure.
As PETRONAS technical training arm focuses on accelerating technical competency development, INSTEP continues to provide any other training as usual. Our wide offerings are internationally recognised and approved under Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), and several other local & international bodies, such as Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC), Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation (OPITO), Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Department of Environment (DOE), among others.
INSTEP is passionately progressing ahead in charting the journey forward for technical learning and certification, and continues re-writing histories in technical competency, soaring to greater heights.
