Datuk Haji Bacho Pilong, SVP PD&T, visited INSTEP on 14 May 2023, for an engagement with 376 students enrolled in the Technical Energy Enrichment Programme (TEP). Datuk Haji Bacho Pilong took his time to share his knowledge and experience with the learners in the sharing session, with the theme of “Engaging for Excellence.”
Also present during the session was Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, Vice Chancellor and CEO of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP).
The learners prepared a special performance to welcome Datuk Haji Bacho Pilong and the team, which also uplifted the mood of all audience, prior to kickstarting the sharing session.

The excited students took advantage of the session to ask Datuk Haji Bacho Pilong interesting questions.
The learners also took their chance to voice out their questions regarding career progression and goals and leadership tips towards the SVP. Datuk Haji Bacho Pilong shared his life journey from his humble beginning as a Sabahan boy, continuing through his development as a person till he attained the position of leader. “Having dreams that keep me awake helps me stay on track and concentrate on achieving my goals,” he said.
He also explained the essence of integrity, “Integrity is a way of life, which we hold ourselves to the highest standards of ethical behaviour and honesty. Make integrity as the anchor, that will be the priniciple in making any decisions for us, as a leader.”

Two of the most outstanding learners that exhibit exemplary PETRONAS Cultural Beliefs were chosen to be awarded with Focused Recognition from Dr. Azir Salleh, Senior Manager, Learning Experience INSTEP, presented by Datuk Haji Bacho Pilong during the event.
En. Idris Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer INSTEP commented in his speech “INSTEP is committed to support development of new technology especially from PD&T, to ensure growth for our learners and technical talents.”
INSTEP as the training arm for PETRONAS, also plays the role as technology acceleration enabler, by being the facility testbed for new technology and pilot project. This includes the recent establishment of solar training facility in collaboration with Gentari and RotaPRO training in collaboration with GTS PD&T.
